Ryan thanks so much for sharing this. Your piece so perfectly articulated the very real and concerning problems around pharmotherapeutic treatment. I have been put on a very similar concoction of medication (benzo’s, anti depressants, mood stabilizers and anti psychotics) for complex ptsd, the side effects were just horrific and magnified my psychic and physical distress greatly. I became a shell of what I used to be and it wasn’t until I came off everything (my own decision) that I acquired the clarity to see how much damage they were doing. It is deeply worrying, many cause very real suicidal ideation and I fear and worry how many we lose for all the wrong reasons. As you say, there are many approaches that can be taken and each should be individualized based on the patients individual needs and presenting symptoms.
